近7戰17打數僅1安打的日籍球星鈴木一朗，30日作客大都會主場手感火燙，不僅單場2安打，生涯累計3011安，聯盟安打排行榜上正式超越紅襪傳奇球星巴格斯，獨居史上第27位，此役他同時完成本季第10盜，生涯連續16球季盜壘都達雙位數。
鈴木一朗此役擔任先發右外野手扛第6棒，4局上擊出反方向安打，也是馬林魚隊首安，8局上再靠著快腿跑出2壘打，生涯累計3011安打，超越紅襪傳奇球星巴格斯，下一個將追逐史上第26位古巴好手帕梅洛的3020安。
42歲的鈴木一朗此役除了貢獻安打，4局敲安後更盜向二壘，完成本季第10次盜壘，自2011年轉戰大聯盟披水手戰袍後，生涯16個球季盜壘都達雙位數。
可惜鈴木一朗的紀錄之夜未能以贏球作結，馬林魚先發王牌費南德茲此役前6局徹底壓制大都會打線，無失分僅被敲3支零星安打、4保送，另外飆6K。8局上馬林魚隊率先突破僵局先馳得點，但第2任後援投手拉莫斯，下個半局先是被雷耶斯擊出2壘打，隨後暴投讓對方輕鬆扳平比數。
雙方鏖戰至延長賽，大都會「古巴巨炮」塞斯佩迪斯10局下2出局後，面對威特葛蘭一棒轟出左外野再見陽春炮，馬林魚隊終場1比2飲恨落敗。塞斯佩迪斯說，「沒有任何文字能形容這時刻。我並沒有刻意想開轟，只是抓到機會徹底揮擊。」
吞敗的威特葛蘭顯得沮喪，「那是顆失投球，人們說一顆失投球能改變戰局，就這麼發生了。」落敗的馬林魚隊戰績遭大都會追平，兩隊都是67勝64負，若想拿下系列戰，3連戰剩餘的2場至關重要。
